Pediatrics

A pediatrician doctor is a specialist who treats and diagnoses the illness and injuries of babies, teenagers, and children. He or she performs diagnostic tests by examining the pediatric patient and prescribes treatments such as vaccination, medication, and other therapies if required. One needs to have a particular aptitude to become a pediatrician, love the children, and treat them with care. To start their career as a pediatrician doctor, one must have an MD and MBBS degree in pediatrics.

The pediatrician's job is to monitor the development and growth of the children and prevent the problems and diagnose and treat a wide variety of illnesses or injury of children by explaining the test result and prescribing the proper treatment to their guardian or parents. After examining the patient, the pediatrician doctor provides medication and detailed instruction, and proper advice to the parents to take care of their children.

Although the pediatrician doctor can solve most of the health-related problems of a newborn baby, a neonatologist is a trained doctor especially to handle the most complex and high-risk situations of babies. Suppose your newborn baby has a severe illness or is premature, or has a congenital disability. In that case, a neonatologist may assist during delivery and in the subsequent care of your newborn baby.

A neonatologist is a baby doctor practicing in children's hospitals, large community hospitals, and University medical centers. Your obstetrician or pediatrician's doctor can refer you to the neonatologist if your newborn baby needs special care. If a medical problem arises with a unique challenge, sometimes babies are born before their bodies are ready to leave the womb, or essential organs such as the heart, stomach, and lungs may not be mature enough to function without exceptional help. During this critical situation, neonatologists who are specially trained doctors for babies evaluate and treat the medical problems of newborns babies. They also specialise in procedures like nebulisations. 

Pediatricians are doctors who manage medical conditions affecting young people, children, and infants. There are four different areas based on which pediatrics are divided- General pediatrics- Most of the pediatrician doctors have the generalist role covering children from birth to the age of 16

Neonatology:

These doctors are specialized in looking after newborn babies who require intensive care or those who have birth-related problems or are premature babies. Community pediatrics- These are the community doctors whose role is to take care of the children with social, behavioral or developmental problems or children having a physical disability

Pediatric cardiology:

These are the doctors who treat and diagnose children with heart and cardiac-related conditions. Such cases are put in the paediatric critical care. 

Pediatrics are primarily concerned with children and infants' emotional, physical, and social health from birth to their young adulthood.

• A child specialist is referred to a mental health practitioner who provides mental therapy to children whose parents are involved in divorce or separation procedures. In contrast, a pediatrician is referred to a physician who provides medical care to children and infants.

• A pediatrician refers to a physician who provides medical treatment and cares for the children and takes care of all range of health-related issues of children regarding any severe diseases or providing any preventive health services.

• A child specialist may be referred to a pediatrician doctor or a registered mental health practitioner whose role is to provide mental health to children in a case where the parents are taking divorce or separation. Here the child specialist must have training provided by specialization in children development and therapy, which acts as a neutral third party and is mainly concerned with the interest and need of the children. They ensure that the need of the children is maintained and met correctly.

• There is no particular age for switching from a pediatrician doctor to an adult doctor as it depends on the person's perspective and when the person is ready to switch. You will need to switch eventually as the pediatrician doctors stop seeing patients when he or she is between the ages of 18 and 21.

• Pediatrics mainly cover up to 21 years of age, but most of the time, a person switches between 18 and 21 or till the last years of teens i.e. 19. It is perfectly fine to continue to see your pediatrician as long as you feel comfortable because pediatricians are trained to treat teens, but some people find it harder to connect with their childhood doctor as they get old. In that case, if you think you have outgrown your pediatrician, you can talk to your parents to make a switch and consult an adult doctor as an adolescent medicine specialist has extra training in the medical and emotional issues that a teen faces during those phases of life.

Pediatric surgeons are specialized in treating children as they try to do operations on children, infants, and young adults. They are responsible for diagnosing and providing operative care to children with various health conditions, diseases, or illnesses and are also skilled in performing surgical procedures on newborns babies.

They may have more qualifications than general surgeons as becoming a pediatric surgeon is one of the longest and most complex in the medical field. If an infant or a child needs surgery, the pediatrician doctor will take care of them as they are the most specialized, trained, and experienced surgeons. Children are not like adult patients, so they cannot describe what is going on or how they feel, so it is challenging for doctors to communicate with them about medical issues. For this reason, pediatric surgeons are trained to make children feel comfortable and communicate with them.
